I have one of those Golf GTIs. I love it. Its zippy. Its maneuverable. It stops fast. I love driving it. Yet I find driving in traffic more frustrating than ever.
I chafe having to sit behind a pack of cars at the stop lights and then having to wait for them all to get going and maybe clear a lane so that I can zip away.
I am on school holidays. Yet my son in an athletics training squad out at school. So I am going out there three times a week during peak hour traff
ic. This is good because it means I am having to acclimatise slowly before works starts again.
One of the other things that really tries my patience is driveres sitting out in the overtaking lane for no apparent reason except that its there. its actually illegal in my state for drivers to do this but it is rarely enforced. The speed limits are much more strictly enforced.

The result is that drivers will sit out in the overtaking lane on the speed limit apparently oblivious to the frustration that they are causing behind them. This ute in the picture was an example. I got my son to take this picture.
My wife does not understand my frustration.
What I do like is an open road in front of me. This gives me a sense of moving effortlessly through the landscape unencumbered by the cares of life.
Of course all this is simply a lesson in detachment. A lesson that I am still learning, obviously.

I guess we will have to be doing the same. Not looking forward to it.
